Blank page in report manager

When i load report manager everything appears to be running fine. The header, footer and nav bar at the top load correctly. Even the directory and file tree load fine.

The problem is when you click on a report everything from below the nav bar ( where the report would be rendered) blanks out and load bar at the bottom just tacks at full.

One way to fix this problem is to open the web config file for report manager save it then close the file.

This is not a viable solution to the problem. I was wondering if any one else had the same problem . If so how to fix it ?

Has anyone had a similar problem with reporting services. Also is there a place to formally site this as a bug

We are having a very similar problem that is driving me nuts. My end users will get this situation - Report Manager banner and links at top, and blank below the color line. They all have the appropriate permissions. At first, we thought it was caused by an Internet Explorer patch, an uninstalling that patch seemed to work... for a little while. Now, they are complaining again. I get the same patches, and I still have full access (of course, I do have sys admin and sql admin rights). I have a suspicion that it is not an IE patch, but an IE security setting or security policy that may be causing it. When I looked at the Report Manager homepage in FrontPage (just to see what I could see), I noticed that banner is rendered in HTML, and it sets the language for the rest of the page to Javascript. If the Internet Explorer security doesn't allow Javascript, or even prompts for permissions, that may be preventing the display of the rest of the page, and would explain why the banner displays and doesn't just throw an error message to the end user. I am investigating this more. Let me know if you have any thoughts.

Blackberry Server MSDE and active directory authentication

To all, thanks in advance,
I have blackberry server running sql msde 2000 (sp4), which is
authenticated via windows integrated with an active directory user
account. When I changed the password on said user account, restart the
mssqlserver service, it fails to start with a 560 error. I had to
changed said user account back to the old password in order for the
mssqlserver service to start. I wanted know where in ms sql msde 2000,
I needed to make the change in order for this service to start. I also
tried starting the service using local system account and it would not
start either. All help with this is greatly appreciated.
JB
Hi
Control Panel > Services. The Service can be stopped and started from there,
and the account password can be changed there for the service.

Thanks for your response, but I did that and the service would not
start under with the new password. The only idea I did not try was to
restart the Server.
Thanks,
JB
|||Mike,
Also, there are other services that start with this same service
account (i.e. all the blackberry services,) and those start fine,
except for errors in the Apps event log because the msssqlserver
service would not start with the same user account change for some
strange reason. I am changing passwords to in AD because I am taking
over duties after someone has left and need to change passwords for
security purposes. This is my only hold up.

Bitwise AND in Where clause?

Is there any way to use Bitwise AND in a WHERE clause?
EG:
SELECT * FROM Directory WHERE DirectoryFeatured & 4
This just gives me an incorrect syntax error? DirectoryFeatured is an int
field.
Regards,
ChrisNot sure how you store the data, but possibly this is what you are looking f
or:
SELECT * FROM Directory WHERE DirectoryFeatured & 4 = 4
Consider normalizing the table and split each attribute to one column (or an
other table, depending
on the data etc).

An t-SQL bitwise expression DirectoryFeatured & 4 returns an INT value which
is incompatible with the above set of values. A logical/bitwise AND between
the two expressions, taking each corresponding bit for both expressions.
Thus your expression should take the form of:
SELECT * FROM tbl WHERE col & 4 = <some val>
In general, there is not many instances when one needs to use bitwise
operators in commerical SQL applications. Though it occasionally finds its
place, quite often poorly designed schema is a prime reason for people
resorting to complex bitwise logic on integer typed columns.
Anith|||The statement is not complete. Try (untested):
SELECT * FROM Directory WHERE DirectoryFeatured & 4 = 4
The bitwise operator will return a value (not True or False); you have to
test for the expected value.
As an aside, this is a relatively inefficient thing to do, and it would
probably be best to create an encoding scheme that did not rely on low-level
bit manipulation.
