Book on clustering

Can someone recommend a good book that covers SQL clustering? And maybe even
SQL Mirroring?
I'm going to install my first SQL Cluster and I want to be as prepared as
possible.
All your help is much appreciated. Thanks.
We offer training www.clusterhelp.com. Hop on a plane and join me in NYC
this Monday. I think we have one open seat

|||The High Availability series is pretty good:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2000/deploy/sqlhalp.mspx
Which has also been compiled into book form:
http://www.microsoft.com/MSPress/books/6515.aspx
SQL Server 2005 also has available reference material:
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/technologies/highavailability/default.mspx
http://www.apress.com/book/bookDisplay.html?bID=10226
You should also read through the Failover Clustering documents:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2000/maintain/failclus.mspx
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=818234dc-a17b-4f09-b282-c6830fead499&DisplayLang=en
Finally, your education would not be complete without understanding
Clustering at the OS level:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/technologies/clustering/default.mspx
Best of luck.
Sincerely,
Anthony Thomas

|||Back when I did my first cluster, I went through Microsoft's white paper
(find it on Microsoft's site) on High Availability and one on Clustering. It
got me through.

|||Allan Hirt's Microsoft SQL Server 2000 High Availability is excellent for
high availability in general and pretty good on clustering. He is writing a
volume on SQL 2005 HA to be published soon by apress.
Clusterhelp.com's training courses are well received.

This is one business truth that always bugs me. How can a company invest so
much money in hardware and software for HA, but not spend a dime on properly
training the administrators?
Without properly trained administrators, it is impossible to achieve HA.

London starting March 6th
|||After months of searching I'm glad nobody else has found a book I missed!
But why isnt there more literature on HA or failover clustering or better
still SQL2005 failover clustering?!! Hopefully Allan Hurt's SQL 2005 book
will fill the gap

Very true Russ. It'll be a cold day in hell before my boss pays for training
and it's unfortunate that so many companies think training is something the
employee should do on their own time. The "you are paid to work, not study"
speech.
[There's probably an appropriate Dilbert cartoon somewhere.]
Well, everything I've learnt has been through books, online articles, and
on-the-job, but I'm realising that the technology is getting away from me due
to lack of proper intensive training. Lack of knowledge is not something
either myself or my company can afford.
Don't suppose you do training in Tokyo? :-)
