Book Suggestion?

Can anyone recommend good books for learning Reporting Services? Assume the reader is familiar with Crystal Reports and other reporting environments, but has no experience with SQL Server 2005 and very little with Visual Studio 2005.

blocking items dependent on words within a field

I am sitting here with both my Crystal 8.5 and my SQL guides out and still can not find the answers I am looking for...

I know that if I want to block an item that starts with a certain phrase I can use the code

... however, my problem is that the items that I want to block do not START the description... the words are within the description - just not at the beginning of it . I know it is still possible to block items based on those words, but I can not remember how to code the report to do so...

Also - just to make life a little more interesting - there is 1 item that begins with the word "mesh" that i DO want to show up on this report. is there coding that says something to the effect of "ignore all items beginning with "mesh" EXCEPT item # 54446" ?

Does anyone have any ideas? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...i just wanted to let yall know someone gave me the following suggestion in regard to the second question and it worked great:

Blank spaces in my Crosstab

I'm using Crystal 10. I have several summary fields in my crosstab. Three of those columns occasionally show blank spaces (depending on the date range I use), even though I've formated the cells to print a zero if there's no data. Even the borders disappear.

The only thing unique about these 3 columns is that they hold 'sums' rather than 'counts'. The zero formatting works for all other fields.

What can I do to stop this disappearing act. It makes the crosstab look really strange.If any one of the values in Null then Sum is Null

Blank Report

I am getting Blank report from any PC when I tried to run a VB pgm which will pass a Recordset to Crystal Report File (.rpt).
I am using TTX(Tab Seperated Text) report in CR and using the following code to pass a recordeset to rpt.

Set CrAppl = New Application
Set CrRep = CrAppl.OpenReport(App.Path & "\" & ReportName & "")
Set CrDb = CrRep.Database
Set CrTables = CrDb.Tables
Set CRtable1 = CrTables.Item(1)
CRtable1.SetPrivateData 3, rsInv

I was getting correct report few days back.

Can someone help me pls ....?

MuneerHave you created the report , if so by any chance have you opened and viewed the report with a select record expert , if so the when you save the report it will be set to the particular select expert, then there are chances that you will get blank report.
In such case , open the report and delete the select expert selection and try

Blank Page On Crystal Report 10

Hi Im' using Crystal Report 10 and the modules created works well when running on Windows XP, but when I try to run the modules under Windows 2003 or Windows 2000 then only a blank page is being displayed (without any error being returned).

Any idea? Please help!
